Egypt Crowned African Women's Volleyball Champions, Secures Olympic Berth

The CAVB Women's Volleyball African Nations Championship concluded with Egypt claiming the title after a dominant 3-0 victory over Kenya in the final. This marks the first time in history an African women's volleyball team has secured qualification for the Olympic Games. Egypt maintained an undefeated record throughout the tournament, from the group stage through to the championship match. Against Kenya, they demonstrated complete dominance with disciplined and efficient play. The North African side did not allow their opponents to score more than 20 points in any set, showcasing superiority in both attack and defense. For Kenya, despite the defeat in the most important match, the team can take pride in their journey. They defeated Cameroon in the semifinals to reach the final, before witnessing Egypt's dominance in the deciding match. Cameroon deservedly earned the bronze medal after a determined campaign. Individually, the tournament's standout performers included: Nada Ahmed Houssameldein with 14 points (including 2 kill blocks and 1 ace), Mariam Metwally Mohamed Morsy with 12 points. From Kenya's side, Veronica Adhiambo Oluoch contributed 11 points (2 aces, 1 kill block) and Elizabeth Marian Sokoiyo added 10 points. Egypt's achievement at this tournament not only brings glory to their nation but also opens a historic opportunity for African women's volleyball on the Olympic stage. Meanwhile, Kenya and Cameroon will have the chance to continue their competitive journey at the 2026 World Championship, representing the continent with hopes of causing further upsets.
